Because they kept trying to get on the other side.

It over something you guys want to do differently so you get into a arguement or fight with them

Linking Activity:

Nato was a organization formed in Washington involving 12 nations. Along with that there was warsaw pact was formed in Poland around the same time.Later on John F Kennedy helped negotiate with the cuban missle crisis so nobody got hurt or destroyed anything. At the time the cold war was very intense people did not like eachother at all and were threating eachother. Eventually they had to Come up with the Marshall plan to stop the hate and have everyone get along. Communism thinks of there community as whole and capitalism thinks of themselves as a state owned wealthy community. The Korean war and the Vietnam war were very violent wars that killed alot of people.

What Knowledge about the cold war did you learn from these three speeches?
I learned from reading the speeches that each of them supported different things and wanted to do things differently. They were also all part of the Big 3 during the cold war. Like Truman at the time he was the president. He wanted to let people know about Greece and communism. He also wanted to convince people that independence would spread sooner or later and wanted a bunch of people to support Greece because they were going threw a lot at the time.Another person was Churchill who was Prime minister of Britain that i also learned about in the speech. I learned that his speeches were always emotional and made people believe in him and he was always good with his words to convince people for certain things hes was great at that.I also learned that he wanted to let people know in the speech was the divide between communism and capitalism and how they were different. And the last person i learned about in one of the other speech's was Stalin. Stalin was a very important dictator in the soviet union and they always counted on him. When he gave the speech's he wanted to talk about the soviet union and how they have been doing well in the wars and what not which made certain people happy because there people were doing good. And during the speech he was talking down about capitalism because he thinks it's bad for your country and everybody in it. Thats what i have learned from the 3 speech's i read.

Korean War:

How did the Korean War turn into a Cold War Conflict? Stalin sent supply's to the Korean area and everything became out of hand.

Why did the Korean War not lead to world war? Because it was mostly a dictator ship problem not a State problem.

How does the Korean War shed light on the broad themes of the Cold War? Because a lot of people were threatening each other and saying they were going to do things when they really didn't do anything kinda like the cold war.

  • Do you Believe the Korean War was a Civil War or a Proxy War ( war that results when opposing powers use third parties as substitutes for fighting each other directly.)? I thought it was a civil war because they fought and argued and then eventually made a agreement to stop fighting. The three pieces of evidence is The U.S and Soviet didn't like each other, the Korean government wanted power and certain leaders wanted communism. Started as a civil war and ended as a proxy war North korea helped out china in the previous war.Mao Zeduong assisted them throughout it and the U.s got help from the UN'S naval and air forces.

  • Provide three pieces of evidence from the video to support your claim.

Korean War Mark Up

Ranking of the public Opinion:
1.People did want to the Korean war to end A lot of people voted to end it once and for all.
2.The U.S Thought it was a failure so they asked people what they thought.
3. the president had confidence in what he was doing at the time.

The Cuban Missile Crisis:

My choice is option 3 for ordering the blockade he wanted to make it clear that a state of war did not exist between the United States and Cuba—at least yet. For several days they were unsure of what they wanted to do or what was going to happen.Soviet vessels approached the Cuban coast and simply stopped under orders from Khrushchev they turned around and the Soviet leader began negotiations with Kennedy for the removal of the missiles. That's my option i would pick for the situation.
